this is probabaly not your problem but is your trasmission
downshifting when you nail the throttle? accelerating while
in overdrive will definately make your car bog.

Springs will not cause a knock at idle. Are you sure it is the top of the motor? You have a bad oiling problem and I would not run it again until you drop the pan

Probably your front main bearing causing the knock

You definately have to start from scratch. You have a bog problem, overheating, low oil pressure and now a knock. The most important thing to look at is the knock. Get your hands on a mechanical oil press gauge. In park bring the rpms up a little and see what oil pressure reads. If it fluctuates with a manual gauge then you know you have a seroius oiling problem. With very low oil press this will effect other things as far as engine performance and running hot. Like chuck stated no oil press when on it is something big like a clogged oil pick-up and an oil pump problem. Do not drive until this is checked or you will just do furthur damage. Let us know what you got. All the other electrical stuff you can check later. This sounds like a base engine problem.

I agree....I would have some serious questions for your engine builder..at least 10 psi at idle, even at 210 degrees, and 40+ at 2000 rpm...if u dont have that, theres engine oiling problems.

Hate to say it, but it sounds fragged now.

Slow oiling to the rockers (espcially the drivers side) can me attributed to incorrectly installed cam bearings....

Point is, these motors cannot be built "chevy style" ...they are special, and need a good machine shop as well as someone that knows a bit about them.

As for your original symptom, it sounds lean, not enough fuel.
