Hi to all. I've been trying to diagnose a problem with my factory alarm with no luck for a few weeks. The security light keeps flashing when the door is closed, causing the battery to die. If I remove / disconnect the connector for the power door lock off the driver door lock cylinder and close the door, the security light goes off as it should. If I keep it disconnected and put a jumper wire on the door lock connector simulating that it's connected to the door lock cylinder and close the door, same problem, the factory security light keeps flashing. I checked the continuity on the alarm switch attached to the door lock cylinder and the switch is good, the grounds are good, wiring harness looks great all the way through the door. I can't find a short. ChatGPT is no help, suggesting diods and relays, has me going in circles. Has anyone else had this symptom with disconnecting the power door lock? Am I missing something? Could it be the module?
I don't even remember how the factory alarm works anymore. If I turn the door lock cylinder manually lock to unlock back to lock, (power door lock still disconnected) the security light is staying off, no change. Is that normal?
I'm at the point of just keeping the power door lock disconnected but I'd hate to do that. I just want to enjoy the car. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
