friday i went to the track with my stock turbo stock injectors and no chip at 16 psi 40.5 fuel pressure and the car ran great best ever ran time in sig.next day spent puting in ta 33 then today ran same feul press and 14 psi no t link or knock guage but thought it would be ok, turbo makes a tone o noise but car goes no where and bew smoke out my exghaust ( i let off as soon as i felt the hesitation ) is this knock and ignition retatrd becouse of the turbos air flow ?

lean condition

My guess is that you ran it lean, never run with out a knock gauge unless you want to rebuild the engine. All injectors need 38 lbs pressure to operate correctly with vacuum line connected. adjust it with the vacuum line off and set to 43 lbs. It will drop about 5 lbs when the vacuum line is connected. You need a way to monitor the engine settings, T-link? watch the o2 settings and keep it above 750 at WOT. The TA33 provides about double the volume of air so you will need to increase the injector size. My guess would be 42.5 or 55 lb injectors. Good luck keep us posted on your results.

well i was at 40# line off , for fuel pressure and i ran the 33 before the cam and porting so i thought it would be fine but now im pretty sure the turbo is bad im getting white smoke out of the exhaust every time i bring the boost up and its really slow to spool i just turned the boost down to 12 pounds and fuel pressure up to 42 and still same hesitation and the smoke ?

Smoke

does the smoke have a strong oil smell? Take loose the down pipe and see if you have alot of oil deposits on the turbo fins. If that looks good do the same on the intake side. If either side has alot of oil you will need to reseal the turbo. You may want to do a compression check on the engine, if you have any low compression cylinders do a leak down check to pin point the problem. Good luck

the intake side of the turbo does have a lot of oil coming out its filling up my intercooler but i htink im getting it from the pcv valve into the throttle body. can i reseal the turbo on my own or do i need to send it out? thanks

turbo

Cean up the oil from the intercooler side, plug the hose from the pcv and run it again on a test drive, if the oil comes back again you know it is the turbo seals. If not you know it was the pcv. Check compression on the engine to see if you have alot of blow by on the pistons, it may be more than the pcv can handle. If compression is good, replace the pcv with a good quality new one and repeat the test drive. I take my turbo to a local diesel truck shop, because they have alot of experience with replacing seals and the right tools to do the job. If you think you can do it, go for it and add it to your list of accomplishments. Keep in touch and let me know what happens.

i have a shop right down the street that does nothing but deisel turbos i think ill go there if its the turbo what does this usually cost im broke? thanks
