Have a weird problem that I cant seem to put a finger on. I had the car running absolutely perfect last year, however, since then I have changed a few things. I changed the turbo, the injectors, the chip, and the FPR and thats it. Now whenever I drive, it runs and idles great until I begin to build boost. Then it hiccups and feels like it may be loading up or something else  ??? This is way before full throttle and I dont have a good O2 reading since its at a very partial throttle. I feels like I need to just get on it and clean it out, but this is how I blew a head gasket on it just a month ago. If you have any suggestions to where I sure start to look that would be amazing!! If not, then I have a great WE4 that is now for sale :D !!! TIA

It sounds like you're not getting enough fuel. What pump do you have and how old is it? Also when was the last time you changed your filter?

knock

Do you get knock on the hiccup? Is it possible that the hiccup could be ignition related, ....or is it definately fuel related?.......or (worse)....could it be valvetrain/cam related? Damn...these cars do have a lot of issues. Good luck.

Hickup is the word I would use to describe an ignition miss fire. If the miss fire seems to be related to boost, it is usually the coil pack. As cylinder pressure rises the air fuel mixture becomes harder and harder to ignite. The part that has to work harder to ignite the mixture is the coil.

Relocate all the Trans+ wiring (not just the ignition module connection). The logic for doing this is that electrical interference may be causing the Trans+ to effect the ignition module. This interference may be entering the system through the wires connecting the Trans+ box to the ignition module - or - through the wires connecting the Trans + box to the MAF.
If you find moving the wires has an effect (good or bad) then you know you have identified the source of the problem and can shield the wires.

Alternator isnt charging!! From my experiences I would believe that this is the problem!! Car runs great until you start to have a load or any boost is seen. Thus there isnt enough spark when this happens! Hows this sound to anyone else?? Thanks again

Less voltage into the coil equals less spark energy. When my coil started going bad I also had an under charging generator. I exchanged coils with a freind and my hickups went away. An interesting thing that happened was his car did'nt hickup with my coil. At least not for several days. One day, when he took a freind for a ride,it hickuped. That was when I learned that the low voltage uncovered the weakness in my coil. When you fix you're generator the hickups might go away but will probably come back. Fixing the voltage wont cure a bad coil. This was my experience, anyway.

Thanks!! We will find out as soon as I get the new alternator on.

my car has the hiccup/sputtering/popping problem also.
it happens with anything above 12psi. i can set it to 16ish but i have to ease into the throttle slowly and sometimes it wont hiccup.
hopefully a new coil and alternator will fix it up.

Got the alternator back on and of course the problem is still there!! However it is a little better, but under acceleration it feels flat and hiccupped several times. During the run the O2s were around 840 with absolutely no knock. So, my next idea is the coil pack?!?! Anyone else who had this problem and could chime in would be great!! TIA again.

You have access to a direct scan? Record the event and send it to me.

Guess.. when it hiccups does the scanmaster blink on/off. Checkengine lite blink but no codes?

Possible bad connections on the fusible links that go to the starter post.

Re: hickup

This is a common problem with these cars. The symptoms you're having point directly to a bad coil. There,I said it. Nothing odd will show up on the scan tool.

No direct scan, no scanmaster blinks, no check engine light. Coil will be next and thanks again. I will see what that does!
