I just got the car running again after 3 years. It starts off in second and won't shift to third. All I have is second gear. Trans hasn't been touched other than a filter and fluid change. TV cable is fine. I've had this happen with every engine rebuild and eventually it starts working, I just don't have 3 days to drive around in second. Any suggestions?

Hi Bruce, this is Matt. I do have reverse. When this happened the last time, it had first and reverse only. I drove it around the neighborhood for a few hours and eventually it shifted and worked fine once it made the first shift. Where in the valvebody is the 1-2 shift valve located? I really don't want to drop it, is it something that can be freed up with a little tap or can I get a pick in there? Thanks for the help.
