Car sat all winter and now....

My car sat all winter, it drove to where I parked it fine but today when I went to bring it home the brake pedal was very spongy....

The car has vacuum brakes so I don't know if this makes a difference but the main concern was my master cylinder was empty in the back half. The front had the proper fluid level.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

I spilled oil last year where my car has been parked so its hard to tell if I have a brake line leaking or wheel cylinder... Fingers crossed since I could then do the S10 wheel cylinders.

You've got a pinhole leak in that circuit.

Even tho the reservoir is empty,there is still fluid farther down the line. Now there is air in the master pushing against that fluid,making it spongy.

Put more fluid in and keep stepping down. You'll see where it's leaking.

I topped off the fluid and it drove ok, pedal a little soft, ill find the leak soon though since my garage floor is very clean :/

I found the leak, its right where the master cylinder mounts to the large vacuum thingy?

Is there a gasket I can order or do I have to replace the master? If so can someone tell me what brand is recommended?

What Troy said.....and, add a booster to the parts list. The fluid leaking into the booster will kill the diaphram.....

Ugh, well thanks guys. How hard of a job is this to do? I hope as simple as it looks!

So what year band model gbody do I pick to find these parts? My car has been converted to vacuum brakes so I just need the master and booster right?

I was looking on rock auto, what brands are good? Seems I can get a brake booster w/master cylinder made by cardone for like $130.

This is for a NA V6 regal

Any of the units you get from Autozone, Oreilly's, Rock Auto, etc should be fine and some will have a lifetime warranty so check them out. Mine is for an 87 MC/SS. Make sure you bench bleed the master before re-installing brake lines.
