Cool84...

You may be right, as I remember now it did completely stop in one position every revolution. Then went and turned it with starter and it started back fine till I got to that same point again and it stopped again. How could this happen with the car not being driven? And just all of a sudden take a dump? I guess it's the nature of the beast. I will not be able to work on her till monday as we have alot of visiting to do tomorrow and we are also in the process of getting our house ready to sell. I will turn it by hand with the cap off again to be sure. Then pull it if necessary. Thanks;)

If all else fails I would have to say that your problem is going to be fuel related so I would start with the fuel pressure reg try putting the old one back in be sure to check and see if there is anything in the way maybe old oring or something by the way I am local

Sounds like a missing tooth on the cam gear...The timing chain (cam) gear has nylon (plastic) teeth...They are quiet as hell but in time they crack and break off causing the problems that you are having or worse...When you take the front cover off to change the timing chain, pull the oil pan and clean it out...You probably have an oil pan full of crap...Also, change the oil pump pickup as well...Go to your local parts store and get a stock steel replacement timing chain, new tensioner(chain dampner), roller bearing cam bumper, and a new oil pump pickup tube, front cover gasket set, and oil pan gasket...That should fix you right up...

???

If the cam sensor is stopping briefly once every revolution, that sounds like maybe the CAM SENSOR DRIVE GEAR on the cam has a missing tooth?

Sounds like the front cover better come off regardless!

Well got some good news.....I guess

Well all I got to do today was pull cam sensor cap and rotate engine by hand and to my surprise there was no hesitation what so ever turned as soon as I turned crank. It has got to be a fuel related problem! Gonna drop tank, check fuel lines, cut the small portion of the intake line on fuel pump bracket off, replace tank, and get some more gas for it tomorrow. Also gonna check filter and see if fuel is getting to the filter. It sure sounds as if it is sucking air with a little fuel around the injectors and fuel pressure reg. area! Thanks guys!

Well dropped tank, cut off necked down part of fuel intake line on bracket. Checked lines and they looked fine and were connected right. Just gotta get some more gas though, about an inch to an inch and a half on the bottom. Fuel filter is also installed correctly. Will be tomorrow, gotta go to work tonight!:D

Won't Start

Hey 6Pack

Check the ground wire on back of motor pass.side head .I found it broken on three different cars and they will not start with it broken.Should be a ground strap and two wires coming from ecm.

Pressing on the schreider valve on the rail to see if fuel squirts out would've been much easier than dropping the tank. Do your plugs smell like fuel? Do you have spark? Getting a SES light with the key on engine off? ECM/IGN fuse ok? FP/inj fuse ok? Think you're not geting fuel, spray some starting fluid in the MAF pipe. IF it tries to start and dies it's fuel related. If not you can rule that out as long as you have spark. I'm still thinking you have a cam/camsensor gear problem.

Feltonr...will check grounds as soon as I get a chance to work on it....new night shift is taking it's toll:D
Cool84...I had to drop the tank anyway to check the fuel lines make sure none were crossed or kinked and to repalce all four of the tank strap bolts. Also to cut the small part off of the intake tube. Plugs did smell like fuel, I did have spark. The ses light comes on breifly then goes off with ign on engine off. Checked codes has none stored. Have not checked fuses since first day I had car... they were(all)fine then. I am going to go back over everything as soon as I get time. Which will likely be this weekend.

You have spark. Your plugs smell like fuel so you're getting fuel injected into the cylinders. That rules out crank and cam sensors. Even if the cam or crank sensor was out of time somehow it would still smoke/sputter/backfire/pop/show some sign of life. If the cam timing is off far enough from jumped teeth it won't do any of this. You said there's a hissing sound from the TB. That's a good indication right there. If it were me, I'd order a nice 206-206 cam, new lifters, and a new timing set. That way if it turns out it's not the cam timing you can always justify pulling it apart with your newly installed upgrades. If it is the problem then the timing set is necessary anyway.
