I fired the car up after sitting for a few months today. I noticed that when I hit the trans brake button while in neutral the car would engage reverse. When in neutral and I rev the motor up to about 3500 rpm it would try to move forward ? The car never did this before I let it sit a few months.Trans brake worked fine when it is in first. This is a built t400 with brake. Could it be linkage adjustment related? I tried it in park and when I hit the t-brake button it tried to move backwards but park wouldnt allow it to. Thanks

I do not know what brand of brake you have.
I had a Hipster Brake in a 400 that would do that all the time.
Don`t think I would be to concearned about it.

Check most obvious first

Like they say check the most obvious first, Linkage. Hate to rip out the tranny only to learn it was just not adjusted properly. That's where I'd start.

Brian did it move forward in neutral when you reved it up?? It did not do this back in sept. the last time I raced the car?

I never really revved it that high. Maybe only 1500-2000 tops.
Whenever the trans was in neutral, the car would go into reverse with the button down.

the design of the brake may allow it to apply the band and directs causing reaction and attempted movement.if the forward clutch is starting to burn or too tight itll try to pull forward in neutral when revving it.

Hmmmm????? Well, I have an electric reverse installed as well (i.e. switch on, put in neutral, press T-brake, and it engages reverse.) Have never had the problem with putting in neutral, raising RPMs and notice forward movement; however, I didn't rev to 3500 rpms neither.

Another thing, these cars aren't designed to just rev, rev, rev in neutal at those RPMs. Well, I guess that would depend upon the "block" but I definitely don't make it a habit to rev my car in park or neutral at those RPMs just to see what happens. As long as it pulls like it has at least 245 horses, don't worry about it.

Good Luck
