Interesting thing I've noticed, the car won't start after washing unless I get in, crank it then turn off the ignition and open/close door. Fires right up after that. Even with a very gentle door close (so not to shake a loose connection) it still does this. Every time I wash it. Security issue?

Yes, it's a "factory experimental" security system.
Only 1 of 1 ever made.
Your car was obviously a corporate employee's car, as that's how systems were tested.
A prelim check for H2O in the ecm is a start. The H2O is deposited thru the seam at the a/c box to firewall seal. That was another preproduction test for seal integrity.

More that I see the "security" light flashing, wasn't sure if it was a horn or ignition kill or what. Have already looked for leaks, all dry. Not using high pressure, under-hood relays appear dry, too. Have only ever noticed that it happens only after washing/drying, not with rainstorms. I know my McLaren has a LOT of electronic "quirks" due to #britishelectronics ... Didn't know if Buicks in the 80's were similarly afflicted.

If you can crank it, meaning the starter cranks the motor over, then it isn't the factory security system.
