Starts right up with cheepo autozone one. I replaced it just cause I had a brand new ac Delco unit. Didn't start so I thought the module was bad. Got another from dealer and now this ac Delco unit still wont start the car. Do I have do anything special to get it to work? It's all wired up right. Makes no sense to me.

Through the rear screw? Cause that is the only one I don't have hooked up.

I thought it was all of them
It is all of them, the mounting plate makes it one for all and all for one.

Don't talk to me about ignition modules and coils, seems like every season I have one or the other fail. I finally bought a coil tester from Casper's, at least it helps show me what combo of junk parts work and which ones don't. At least for now.... I've heard the GM Delco brand doesn't have the same quality as the old days, it's a freaking crap shoot with these parts, you probably have two DOA (dead on arrival) units.

Sounds like you have other problems.

az units dont test
delco fail test with random miss at idle , or center coil of module wont hold on wot

getting a good new module is like getting a reman maf that works

the pep boys type 11 setup though tested clear to the top of the rpm test through the plug wires , i checked 3 type 1s and none would run the full rpm test through the wires without at least two coils failing

this isnt an opinion

O.K. but that's not why the op's car is not starting when he switches brands.

Can anyone tell me or show me how the back of the mounting bracket it attached? I took it off months ago and lost the hardware, now I don't know what belongs there. Second problem is I had the bracket powdercoated which I'm sure isint helping with the ground(which I didn't know the bracket took part in) my plan is to scape some powdercoat to help with ground, find correct rear hardware and order the ccci Hotwire from caspers. I'm guessing the autozone one doesn't need to be grounded the same way.

Thanks for the pic but it's hard to tell. Is that a bolt with a few washers or a special bolt? Also is that a grounding block? Looks trick.

nothing different between the delco or auto zone as far as how they ground (through the bracket).... put the cheapo az back in and see if it starts..... if not, something else got screwed up in the process....

The car is not at my house. Won't get to play with it till fri. Which way should I move cam sensor and how much?

Powdercoated you say. That will kill the ground connection very easily. I learned a couple yrs ago. If you got a dremel tool clean away the coating where the three bolts screw to the bottom of the bracket. Then clean all the holes up and get the paint off of the area that the bolts make contact too. No ground No spark!!

Yeah I know the powdercoat will block the ground big time. And I will be using all the tips here. Im just so confused why the autozone one had no problem starting the car on the same bracket. I played swap the module about 5 times going through 3 modules and various coil packs and the only one that worked was the az one. I just ordered the ccci Hotwire today from caspers. That should ground it good.

It's bizarre and can't explain but there is something that throws off the cam signal. I been through it . There is another thread with the same problem and solution. Do a search.

Before I can tell you which way to turn the sensor I need a little more info. When you try and start with the delco module does it kick like timing is off or just spin?
