I'm nearing the completion of an 87 Grand National with a hot rod restoration shop and have ran into some problems.
Background on the car... The GN was always my dream car growing up and I wanted to have one of the nicest GNs around... basically every single component of the car is new or redone. Absolutely zero expense spared type of restoration... over 1100 hours of labor into it so far.
I ordered CCW wheels and have had them since December or so. They are the LM20 series, 18" with Nitto Invo tires. 275-35-ZR18 in back and 245-40-ZR18 in the front. The brakes in front are Willwoods. All of the body bushings and stuff were new Energy Suspension parts. Shocks are Bilsteins.
The suspension is the complete Hotchkis system that they sell. Pictures of the suspension stage are at my webpage. A few pictures of the almost completed car at their booth at Iola are here: Pictures by catiaudo - Photobucket
The shop took the car out for a test drive and it rubs when turning and going over bumps. Bad enough that it will jerk the wheel left or right depending on which wheel rubs first.
I don't want to return to stock ride height full time so I was thinking of going with an Air Ride setup from Air Ride Tech... the new system with the control pod and everything... Suspension Systems :: Vehicle Packages :: 1978-1988 Chevy Monte Carlo,El Camino,Malibu - Level 3 - RideTech.com - Air Suspension Specialist
Will this solve the rubbing issue or should I do something else? Modify the inner fenders? Etc... Thanks!
