Hey Guys,

I am helping a friend with his 4.3 S-10 that is sputtering and surges at idle.

I has a low TPS code but the scantool reads 0.54. What's the spec for the idle TPS?

Thanks,

.54 is good for tps. if it drops below .15 I believe that will set to low code.p0122. you would need a scope or graphing meter to watch for good sweep. Anything from .5 closed to 4.5 open is what you shoud see. unplug that massairflow sensor and see if it clears up. before anything what year is this thing?

That's what I was thinking too. I disconnected the battery and didn't see the code come back. The TPS seems to read consistently so I think it's ok.

It's a '92 so it's a speed density / MAP control. The truck is really lean even at idle. You can set and watch the BLM climb while idling. I think it needs a fuel filter and maybe a pump. Problem is that the lines to the fuel filter are sooo rusty that I don’t think we can get them off without breaking them! He is going to soak the lines in WD-40 repeatedly for a couple of days then we will try.
