A friend rebuilt my trans. (2004R) two months ago and we used your rebuild manual. Had to pull the trans. apart today because something wasn't right and we discovered that the direct drum clutches (Alto red) were all toast and the band (Alto wide) was starting to show signs of cracking from the heat. All tolerances were set per your manaul. What could we have done wrong? The rest of the trans. look fine. Thanks for any assistance.

Is there any way to clean out the torque converter?

What type of valve body kit did you use?

Did you ever put a guage on it to check mainline pressure?

Could be an issue with the calibration of the 2-3 shift, could be a direct drum seal problem, could be a pump/tv pressure issue...

Used a Gil Younger shift kit.

Don't remember checking main line pressure.

Thanks for listing items to be checked closer. :)
