He should have left it stock. The modifications are gaudy even by 1980's standards.

I read the article and this is probably the picture referred to ("After seeing a concept sketch of a GNX with C4 Corvette wheels...") in the article...

Funny how I always hated the looks of those C4 wheels, but on his car I think they look pretty cool! Hope the owner is on the site. And he really should update his mods, especially the chip. Thanks for the link!

I liked them on my car, but I liked the mesh better.
I only had the C4 wheels from ‘88- ‘92.

I think they're really nice!... Personally, I prefer them to the mesh style wheels because
1° they're easier to keep clean
and
2° there are too many GN's with mesh style wheels now.
Also, were they a direct fit or did you have to use spacers/adapters?

I used 1.5” wheel adapters with the 8.5” wide wheels. I ran 255’s all around. The rears were ok, but the front drivers side rubbed the top of fender on big dips. The fronts would have been better with 1.25” adapters, but the power 6 emblem had to be siliconed in due to the bearing cap protrusion. I flattened the bearing cap as it was.

It would have been fine with 245’s at stock ride height, I believe.

I like them wheels George ....classic !!

Thank you, they were the widest, coolest wheels back then and we all wanted to be different. I like to go around corners fast and those were my choice. Of course, later I found out those wheels were made in a 9.5” width, although I’m not sure if they would have fit better. I might have to figure that out.

There was a guy in the DFW area that had his GN painted white. He use to be on this board but that was a long time ago. Not sure if he still owns it or is around any longer.

I think I remember that car, but if that was a GN I would have hated to get paint bill , turning a 100% black car into a 100% white car
would been challenging. probably was definitely less expensive to convert a white T Type.

I had a white '87 GN back in the day, I bought it that way. The guy who originally painted it white was some sort of salesman who used it for work. He swore he got too many tickets so he painted it white to be more stealthy. He went kinda overboard and painted everything white including the grille, headlight bezels, window trim etc. It looked like it should belong to an Asian gangster. I repainted the window trim, bezels and grille semi gloss black and put GN wheels back on it. The end result was much better. I drove it as a daily driver for a few years and sold it back in the late '90's.

Must not been a convincing salesman either , couldn't talk his way out of the tickets. But to his defense 86 thru the early 90's
these cars were like a red rag is to a bull in Madrid Spain, I will contest to that . BTW was the engine compartment ,door jambs
and inside trunk lid painted.

My recollection is that everything was painted white including the door jambs, under the trunk lid, bumpers, rub strips. wheel well trim etc.
