Hey guys, I got an automated 800 # phone call today which stated that my cellular service was in violation and was going to be terrimated. Well I called 611 service right away! Turns out, If you are a Cingular Customer in the Southern states (MS, AL, LA, GA, FL, ect) SOME customers WILL be losing service with Cingular. I asked the rep, how is this possible?! He said we look through all of the billing process's and find the customers who cost Cingular the most money per month, we terminate. I asked..Is this for Nation wide customers who travel? or Nationwide coverage plans? He said It did not matter what plan you had, and it was not going to be everyone. Just whoever costs Cingular the most. He said I could be picking up a signal from another cell tower which was not cingulars, and the ABC Cell company bill's Cingular for my usage, and cingular never charges the customer because cingular advertizes NO ROAMING! We'll, Thats not my problem! I said I like cingular and have a plan taylored to fit me because I travel nationwide. I dont want to leave cingular! He said Sorry, we will terminate your account in 35 days. I said so what CINGULAR is telling me, is to go find another cell company?? He said Basicly, YES. I called back and talked to someone different and they said the exact same thing. So if you have cingular, check on your account. You will be notified by Text msg, phone or by mail. Also I checked on my brother's account and the rep said, it was not flagged yet but that doesnt mean it wont be. so keep an eye on your accounts.

Tell them you intend to charge them an "early termination fee" of....oh, say $250. :D

WTF?! Thanks for the heads up. I also have Cingular and travel quite a bit. I have to use my personal phone quite a bit because the company phone is Sprint

I live in a small town and the same thing happened here but they sent it out in a letter and only some of the people got a a letter (about half the town) they sssaid the those people were going off another tower that wasn't there's I live 6 miles out of town and I got know letter but the guy next door did

Wow thats just stupid. I have Cingular but live in Minnesota. Havent heard of anything like that happening up this way.

I have read something like this before. They say that it is written in the contract on the nationwide plans that you must use Cingular towers at least 50% of the time.

I personally had Cingular for about 4 months and had 85% of my calls dropped so after about 20 phone calls to customer service they agreed to cancel my contract.

Thats right. well I do travel outside of my coverage area more than 50%. I have to with my business. So I'm getting the shaft for something I have no control over. I went by Verizon in Kansas City and checked to see if they could port my phone number, but they couldnt, but T-Moblie can.

Also found out my buddys mom got a letter yesterday. and she never travels.

I'd double check the version of the contract that you signed when you signed up for your plan.... if its not in there, and you can't terminate the contract early, why can they?

My mom and brother went from Verizon to US Cellular a few months ago and love it. I am stuck with paying out the rear with Nextel until May...
