CK performance 3800 billet 9/11 driving impressions!

I would personally like to thank Chris from CK on his converter selection for my car. It is a 9/11 3800 converter, but totally drives like a stocker on the street at low speeds. However when you stab the throttle it is an absolute monster, no comparison to the vigilante i had. I have the tractor fluid in and the stageright transbrake in. I have tested the stall rpm with the transbrake and i stopped at 4500 rpm and 15 psi becuase it seemed like something was about to brake if i kept going. I could easily launch this thing at 20 psi. At 0 psi boost it is about 2800 rpm. This is with a 71 gtq 4 bolt on a stock block.

If this thing runs a 9 i will have to buy Chris some Canadian beer!

That's good to hear.

I have that same converter waiting to go in mine but I don't have near as much motor/turbo as you.

hey ,scott norbs,i need pics for the manual.see the post.ive got 17 dead spots for 4x4 pictures.HELP.

When I first got a 9/11 it would only stall to 2800 at zero boost also. With a 4 bolt T-66 P trim. It was NOT raceable. By the time it would spool up to 10 lbs to launch our Pro tree was lit and I'd still be waiting for it to spool to the 10 lbs.

I sent it back and had it raised....now it's 3500 at zero and is pretty well perfect in my opinion.

So I'm curious Norbs, how long does yours take, in seconds (recording on FAST) from an idle to get up to 10 lbs? If you don't mind testing it for me.

I will have that data for you in a day or two, I am still fixinf broken rockers, and cracked headers. Always high maintenance these cars:eek:

Hey Norbs,

Do you have the "Stageright" transbrake installed in a CK Stage 2 200 4 R

Its just a local rebuild, with a converter i bought from Chris. Chris tell me if the pic is going to work for you.

thanks

I use a DOS version of FAST....it won't open what I assume is your Windows version.

Can't you just tell me? :)

Ya but Chris's doesnt stay up as long :)

Further testing today has revealed the stall is 5280 rpm at 15 psi while driving. I hope its not going to be 6000 rpm at @25 psi, but i think it will be too much stall at high boost.

if you keep building boost youll build more stall.imo the proper way to stage these cars is to go up against a chip on the line or use an adjustable boost controller when on the transbrake.going up against a chip is still the smarter of the 2 imo.

Yes i have the inovative controller, going to mount a switch on the shifter somehow, I can keep the boost at 9 psi then click the lever and it should switch to what ever i want. I have no rev limiter though for staging, and refuse to use the msd stuff, since its still not reliable

Norbs, I took a swith with a little arm, ( ibelieve it was one of those nitrous full throttle switches) and bent the bracket up and bolted it to the shifter mount so i could use the launch control with a stage right brake. But you may find you cant make less than a certain amount, no matter what i set it at it would make no less than 20#s while on the brake.
I needed to add the co2 system and a light spring as cal was taking about in the other thread to control boost that low.

I Think your right i was planning to run a small factory air lift compressor to a tank in the trunk and regualted down to 50 psi, going to see if it is going to work.
