I used CK's plate in a freinds tranny in Nov. Trans had a soft 3-4 shift. Dropped valve body and per CK's advice was going to shim the 3-4 accum. I was inspecting the hole in the plate. #28 hole was only about .078(5/64). I did a search on the net and in his book and most called for .110. I opened the plate up to this size and the 3-4 was more noticeable. I am wondering is there a reason for the .078 hole vs. the .110 the book recommends?

This was with a CZ valve body.

smaller hole reducers the shock on the od carrier.a firm 3/4 is really not necessary but it is important to understand that each and every combo differs and its easier to drill out a hole than make it smaller.

Chris is there a specific reason the CZ valve body shifts softer than a BRF on the 3-4. This is the 2nd car I've noticed that on. All my BRF's have a very noticable 3-4.

BTW that book is priceless to have with these trannys!

different accumulator valve.brf has the largest diameter.this doesnt affect line psi but accumulator back pressure, slightly increasing shift.does this car have our accumulator valve installed on the accumulator valve?

Be sure not to delete the accumulator and run a .110 hole. You will have OD carrier breakage if you do. If you run the correct accumulator valve spring (the one in the vb), accumulaor spring, plate hole size, and 3 clutch setup in 4th you will be fine. Chris ill be calling in tomorrow.

Yes,it has the CK kit and parts. I will be calling Michelle mon or tuesday for a LO roller and plate. I still haven't got my teflon ring kit or pin extender.

Is there a valve/spring I can change in the CZ valve body to get the BRF WOT shifts?

The governor circuit is a little different. You would need a governor and the BR vb to get the same shift points without playing around too much. I prefer the CZ shift points and overall habits over the BR vb myself in a TR with heads and cam. Kickdown is more lively and the shift points are higher with the CZ.
