Clank when shift 1 to 2

My 2004r (billit drum and input shaft) makes a clanking sound when shifting into second gear only when i slowy take off from a stop sign if i accearate a bit faster and trans shifts a bit higher in rpm there is no clank..this trans has a older shift kit and has a hard 1-2 shift,i did unblock 1-2 acc and it did help soften shift but not CLANG...ANY IDEAS OF CLANG SOUND IN TRANS

Sounds like too much band clearance to me, try tightening it some. We pay a price for hi line pressures. Am running a lot of pressure in mine, even have the 1-2 down to a very small hole in a set screw in the housing. Where I get my bang is on the light throttle 2-3 shift but I love that dual feed shift when am in the throttle heavy. FWIW all CK stuff in mine also.Call me if I can help.

I also get a hard shift on 1-2 but i also get a bell sound at a very low speed shift (1500) rpm but if the shift is at (3000) rpm there is no bell sound and shift is not as hard..

If this is a new problem that's just come along them maybe the big cushion spring has broken, seen that happen a few times in these 200-4R's

Trans came from rebuilder like that ,maybe there is no cushion spring
