I need help knowing exactly which bolts I need to loosen (or completely remove?) in order to adjust the angle of the center section of my turbo. First my aftermarket drain line didn't fit because it was aimed straight at the oxygen sensor, and now the feed line from my "tuber luber" oil filter kit is binding up too. Really need to turn the feed line flange towards the rear of the car, which in turn will point the drain line down instead of back towards the header.

Which bolts on the turbo do I need to work with?

Here's a picture (non Buick turbo, just for reference)

Put the 6 bolts back in, do not tighten. Put the 4 bolts back in. Loosen the bolts on the cold side, the center section will pivot, adjust where you need it and tighten all bolts.

Ok question #2. That worked and I got it in the perfect position, but now the 4 bolts (red arrow) have nowhere to thread into? I turned the center section and now I'm not lined up with any threads for those bolts...

You needed to put the 4 bolts back in first so the center section will pivot.

Well with the 4 bolts out I can get it to pivot easily. If I put the 4 bolts back in and try to get the back side of the cold half to move with it, I can't get it to budge. And that's with the other 6 bolts loose. But it's midnight now so that's all for tonight.

The only bolts you need to loosen are the ones holding the compressor cover.(Green arrow). Dont mess with anything else. These bolts hold down the little gold brackets which in turn tighten the housing to the center part of the turbo. If all these bolts are loose you can move the comp housing up n' down as needed.:)

I thought the instructions on these new turbos say installation in only 1/2 hour with basic hand tools. :D

I had to cut my new PTE IC to get my 6776dbb turbo to fit...its all a PITA sometimes. But like my wife says"You wanted a hot rod didnt you?"

Alright I'll give it a try tonight. Like I said, if I take the 4 middle bolts out, it turns very easily and I can adjust it to where I want it. If I put those 4 bolts back in and try to turn it, I can't move it at all. Brand new turbo, I wouldn't expect anything to be seized up inside, not sure why it's hard to move.

there is no adjustment in the red bolts.

loosen the blue bolts and align the oil feel hole to vertical.

tighten blue bolts.

now loosen green bolts and align the compressor outlet to the intercooler.

tighten green bolts.

done.

arent you a mechanic? i cant understand how it takes weeks to put on a turbo?

Thanks for the friendly input. Yes I'm a mechanic, meaning I'm not home 10+ hours day, doesn't leave much time to work on my own car. And working for Toyota doesn't provide much experience in adjusting the center section of a turbo. Maybe one day I'll be good enough to make dumb comments on internet message boards to insult other people. Until then...

im sorry if i offended you. My comments were unecessary.

One of the few things that i have learned about buicks is that nothing fits correctly. What i would suggest is that when installing any part, add twice the book time to adjust grind or even repair any part that goes on. i have had zero training in auto mechanics and my high school didnt even have autoshop. Anything that ive learned to do on buicks is by careful inspection and jumping head first into projects. I dont know half of what some of the people on this board know but these cars are not rocket science.

Good luck and go show that turbo who's boss.
