clutch pack burned

What causes these to burn up. I understand that it could be a few things. No other packs are burned up?

Those are the forward clutches. They are not a shifting clutch (applied as soon as you put it in any forward gear), so if they burnt up, it was because they lost apply pressure. Most likely cause is the sealing rings on the stem of that drum, this is why everyone recommends solid teflon rings here.

'least that's the general consensus from what i've read. Usetaboost's were toast also, but he roached the pump.
 
Since you've got it assembled on the center support like that, you could air check the sealing integrity of that whole assembly through the ports in the center support.
 
If you burned forward it probably sucked air.
