Hadn't driven the Jeepster for a week or so - and when I parked it everything was fine. Started it up yesterday to take my kids to swim lessons and it wouldn't idle. CEL came on - check the scan master and sure enough code 34 showed up.

Can the MAF just go bad from sitting? Will taking it out and spraying MAF cleaner help - or is it more than likely just toast? Any other things that can cause this? I limped it to the pool as it it only a mile away by feathering the gas very lightly and holding the gas pedal down slightly while braking.

No milkshake. Pump gas, no alky and boost is limited to 14psi.

Check you wiring first. If the MAF is bad it could have fried when it was powered up.

Took the MAF off and it had a hole in it rubbing on an accessory stud. Had another MAF here and it is running great again. I ground down that stud so it won't be a problem again. I patched the hole in the old MAF with JB weld - but down know if it is fried now or not. Oh well - hopefully this won't happen again by grinding down that stud - it was long.

Well it was running great in the driveway - went out for a drive and it threw code 34 again and ran horrible. Idles fine in the driveway but as soon as you give it some gas it stumbles and falls on its' face. Could the used spare of unknown condition be bad as well? Anyway to test it? I checked all my fuses in the harness and they are all fine.

Arghhh.

So where do I find a known good MAF? It seems as though the reman's are at best 50% to be good.

Are the A1 Cardones any good for sale online? Mike Barnard was gracious enough to let me borrow his known good MAF to verify the problem - everything is fine. But I need to get this back to him before I leave on my road trip. Any other vendors that reman MAF's that are good quality? Part # 74-7866, correct?

go to your local parts guy and explain to him the problem. i went to the store installed the new one and said i might be right back. its showed max 110 value at wot and went right back to try the next one which turned out so well that it pushes 256:cool: wot on the powerlogger and as low as 4-5 on idle. its good to have a good parts store guy. usually you cant' return electronic parts.

I just sucked it up and bought a translator and MAF - sometimes I am offroading out in the middle of nowhere and will need to get a good replacement if it ever craps out again. It would suck to be broke down and not be able to get a replacement easily.
