I know this question has been asked numerous times. Having a hard time finding any "recommendation" post. Are all code readers the same? Don't really need one for an OBD1. Don't want a cheap one but don't want a super expensive one either.

Buy a SCANMASTER.... you will not be disappointed... it reads all the sensors as well as giving you the malfunction codes

haha.... FAIL.... sorry didnt read that right.... for my OBD2 vehicles i have an auto x-ray diagnostic tool that can do obd1 and 2 and a few foreign adapters as well.... it works.... only thing i dont like is i cant read individual sensors like my scanmaster

Snap on just came out with a small scanner under the Blue -Point name. Its 400 bucks and will read all OBD 2 codes as well as show sensor data, graph, and manufacturer specific codes on some manufacturers. It also reads ABS codes and you can buy an adaptar kit to scan OBD 1 GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota. The software is upgradeable and it even has repair tips with the codes. Its a great value for what it does. I own one myself. Its called MICROSCAN PRO. Part # is EESC717PRO. They also have a cheaper model that I believe is only OBD2 compatible with no ABS but im not 100% sure on that. Its only $50 cheaper so IMO its worth it to just get the PRO.

Yep it looks like the code scout..... i remember i paid around $100- 120 for it
