Well finnally got my jem up and running and got the Turbolink up and running as well(very useful in setting IAC and TPS) drove down the road and started getting codes and when I say codes I got eveything from calpak not found to water injection to vss to esc signal ,boost sensor,o2 rich,o2 lean,os circuit failure, maf, mat and the list goes on and the car runs like crap so In the shop check every lovin last ground no problems so I was thinking either a bad chip or bad ecm car has never really run great since the 87 ecm conversion so I
ordered a chip from eric and ran a little bit better but now wont even spin a tire
Next question can the cam sensor be installed 180 degress out and the car still run?
Next step was to reset computer and run again to see if code came back Hell never even left the garage and they started popping up put the car in reverse and got water injection code followed by vss, then IAc, ad converter and so on didnt even move 10 feet car seems to run better with turbolink disconnected but that may just be me
So what does everybody think bad chip or ecm
Thanks

Saw this in another post relating to moisture in the ECM refers to multiple random codes....of course the intercooler stuff does not relate....

If water is indeed a factor in the problem, then you prolly want to drain out the intercooler and use the hairdryer on the MAF sensor also. If problems still exist, I'd first try another ECM and/or MAF.

The fast flickering of the SES light means that the ECM is getting no signal from a chip...but chips do not zap themselves even when they get wet. However, a short in the ECM (from excess moisture) could take out the chip. Water is also a common problem whent he ECM starts spitting out multiple codes at (what seems like) random.

It almost sounds like Turbolink is misinterpreting the data. Make sure its set up for the right year ECM. Also make sure its not set up for the "fast update" datastream.
If thats all set right, I can mail another chip to you to try out.

Regards,
Eric

chips

Thanks guys pulled the ECM out and cleaned all pins could not find any moisture in it anywhere I have the chip that came with the ecm I will try it tommorrow and see if the codes come up with it
And thanks Eric for the offer if it works ok with the orginal chip I will let You know I tseems that with the turbotweak chip I am getting alot of knok at low boost havent been over 15 lbs on 93 octane and knock gauge sometimes goes into the red but I dont know if it is the chip or the ecm like i said the thing really didnt run much better after I did the 87 ecm conversion so I dont know if I got a screwy ecm the other thing is I am beginning to wonder about POSTONS I bought the so called 40lbs injectors but i dont know if they really are they have a thin blue stripe on them and thats all so maybe someone can verify that they are indeed 40lbs cause I dont know
I have even set the fuel pressure as high as 48lbs and still got knock at 12lbs of boost
damn thing is kicking my butt but it looks good (the car that is)
Thanks
Again

You should be able to find a part # on the side of the injector. Get all the numbers you can and post it. We should be able to figure out what they are. I made you a 40lb chip, but those might be 37/38's, so we might have to change it.

Did "you" do the conversion and where did you get your ECM from?

FWIW;
I converted to the 87 ECM and got two bad ECM's from O'Reilly. Yes, it had a lifetime warranty, but I now understand why.
Fried one ECM in 3 hours!! Nothing but codes suddenly.
I returned it for a refund.

codes

Well changed out the prom today and codes still spitting out did some research and found a bunch of issues with t-link and laptops and inverters and fan relays ground etc so i will be doing alot of wire chasing this weekend
and thanks again to all for you input
does any body know what type injectors POSTONS sells mine are supposed to 40lbs and the numbers on them are as follows D1163BA is on the side and on the other side is J974 they are supposed to disc type
Thanks
Again all
yes Jerryl I did the conversion myself ecm came from a board member same place as dead MAF  but we wont get into that now ;)

If everything above doesn't work, check the grounds behind the
AC compressor.

Mine did the same thing with the Turbotweak chip and turbolink. After talking to Eric, I realized I had forgotten that you can't use turbolink with the fast update option.

anybody have any luck with the part numbers for the injectors
I cant find anything on the web on them

Is 1999 old enough? lol
Yeah, that's plenty old..lol.

Mike,
Your injectors are 37/38lb. They are the replacements for the 40lb redstripes, so many people still call them 40lb injectors. Your chip should be ok with those.
If you can send me a short WOT turbolink run, I'll see if there's anything we can do to help the knock.

Fast update ? I'm lost there where is the fast update in Turbolink?

You can order the chip with the fast update option. It gives you more frames per second of data but won't work right with the older turbolink. Or I should say the older turbolink won't work right with the fast update chip.
