Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my car and i suspect the coil pack might be going. Is there any way I can know for sure. Is there a way of testing the stock hotair coilpack?

Check coil resistance across towers with a multi-meter. Should be 11k-13k ohms.
Casper's Electronics (Poston carries them too) makes a ignition simulator that tests your coilpack and module. It simulates spark at different rpms (adjustable) so you can see if there is a break and/or weak spark in your driving range and at which cylinder. Pretty neat gadget/tool.

well, what sort of problems are you having?

maybe we can throw ya some advice to ya !

try borrowing a friends coil pack and swap it out, instead of buying one .

all of us regal guys probli all had the same problems at one time!

:D

Ive been trying to troubleshoot this problem for awhile. Biggest problems are horrible tip in hesitation, sometimes stalls when accellerating, extremely poor idling, lack of power. I've changed the maf cam sensor, tps adjusted right, iac motor, cts, ecm, chip,O2 sensor and so on. The colder it is outside, the better it runs. Not to mention when i first start it in the morning., it runs good. when it starts getting hot, and goes into closed loop, it runs like crap

ANy luck with the new coil pack?

well u said u had replaced the IAC, whut is it set at though?
that causes alot of tip in problems , stumble, hesitation etc

fully warmed up, and with in gear with your foot on the brake
it should be around 15-20 counts.

check your ground on your car, alot of people run a fat ground wire to the base of the coil pack bolts to 1 of the bolts on the motor.

whats yer fuel pressure at?

i honestly would start looking for other problems before i went spending cash on sensors, etc

trust me, i been learning this the hard way

most of the time its a tuning issue, Fp issue,Vac leaks , grounding issue more then anything

check for vacuum leakes all over the hoses, and egr and its pipe

spray some crab cleaner all over, and listen for it to rev up

i see your running the v2,setup
id be checking for vac leaks and even leaks around the intercooler plumbing,

try a few of those, and lemme know if yer on to sumthing
im sure some other will chime in !
u could be sucking in air in that Dept. and causing a bad air / fuel ratio
making it have a miss

:( :D

i think the stock fuel pressure is like 34 with the hose off

if u run a street chip, and an adjustable fuel pressure,
most people set there fuel pressure anywhere from 38-42 on an Hot-air. with the hose off

it should drop a few, PSI when u put the rubber hose back on

i run a 93 octane chip with #38 fuel pressure :D
