Can anyone recommend specialty car insurance for my Grand National such as Grundy and some of the others? What have people found to be good and which insurance companys are to be avoided? Thanks for input.

grundy 25000 agreed value unlimited miles less than 400.00 a year.thats who Ive been with for years and very happy with them.

i got american collectors insurance on my car. i like them and the beast is covered for 35K

Grundy here as well on 3 cars. No mileage limit. All collector insurance will not let you drive it to the store etc, must be in your sight at all times when its out of a locked garage in case you didn't already know. Some have mileage limits per year, some don't. If you don't drive it often then its no problem to stay under the limit. I've never had a claim with them, so I can't say how they are from that standpoint.

Grundy here, recent convert from Hagerty. 25K agreed value for around $400 a year. Hagerty was about the same price BUT no glass coverage. Needed that last year when I got a star on my windshield and had to pay out of pocket. Grundy DOES have glass coverage included.

Just be aware you have to pay the whole policy in advance.

I have been happy wth Hagerty. UNTILL now.
$ keeps going up. 30k. is $700.......:eek:

Shopping right now.

Grundy here :), $475.00 for $31,500 worth of coverage. I did pay $25 dollars more this year but they also increased the value another $1,500. and as everyone has said, no mileage limitations. not that i get her out much but it's nice not to have to worry about silly stuff.

I've got my LS-1 Maverick insured for 35k through Heacock Classic for $319 a year... IIRC, it has a 4k per yr mileage restriction and a "no drive to work" clause.

grundy told me that they dont insure cars with any type of racing aftermarket parts, or cars that will be raced in anyway.thats what they told me at the booth when i went for the quote

I have $15000 on my 63 Impala SS with Hagerty for $170 a year. 2500 miles a year, but that's pretty easy to stay under with this car.

Just got Hagarty on mine....$260 for 20K.

Question on the mileage....How do they know? The only place mileage is recorded is yearly DMV inspections. Do they tap that database on any claim? Just curious.

So don't tell them that your raceing it and that it's stock what they don't know won't hurt you

Hagerty here. It doesnt have to stay in your sight everytime its out of the garage. You are allowed to take it to work occasionally and it cant be in your sight that whole time. And the mileage is a suggestion i was told, if you go over a little its no big deal. Mine is like 5k nd i will go no where near that a year.

I don't know of any insurance company that will cover you while you're on a drag strip. I'm sure that's what Grundy meant. If you wreck on a track, it's your problem. However, if you go to the track, run the car without incident, then on your way home you get into an accident, they will cover you. At least that's what I would figure.

Just on case they truly don't cover cars with race goodies installed, I don't know if that would be a good idea. If you have a claim and they find parts you "omitted", it might give them an out.

Exactly what they told me, too.

I have State Farm on my TR. A car I just sold I had with Hagerty and have a bike currently with Hagerty too. Great experiences with them but have never had to file a claim though. BAD experience with Grundy during the application process- READ the fine print on the Grundy policy, ASK questions, and the search function on this site is your friend.

So if you have an incident at the track what would happen if you dragged it out to the road?

Speaking of Grundy, was at a cruise Wednesday and some guy with an Olds 442 was vandalized at a local cruise. Someone keyed his car on the front fender and rear quarter right down to the primer. Asked him who he had for insurance and said it was Grundy, said there was no hassle with them and he had a check from them within days.

Just switched from Hagerty to Grundy saved almost $300
$700 + to $425 for $30k agreed value.
