cometic head gaskets

i was looking on cottons website and it says to use oem head gaskets on a stock block, and not cometics. why is this? i dont think the block has to be o-ringed for cometics.... does it?

Block does not have to be o-ringed for Cometics. Some guys are having issues with the Cometics weeping water and oil. A coating of spray Hylomar on each layer of the Cometics will stop this. Nothing wrong with stock head gaskets if your not going to run the boost over 24psi. My .02.

You are correct.
I could not get my Cometics to seal for quite some time due to the finish not being right. I would not use them unless you are having the block and heads machined.

It took 6 pills at one time to seal my cometics.
