Dunno about the Cometics, but a lot of guys using the Duttweiller Cork Gskt with great success.......no issues.
You can get this from most of the vendors on the boards.

I asked if anyone here is using the cometic, not where or how i should spend my money. But thanks anyway. PS, I supported CPP from 1988 until they retired, and nearly every other vendor here. I would like to a save a buck or two now that i'm retired.

I use it. Great gasket. It's thick and you can put some torque to the bolts without worrying about damaging it.

Installed dry with a dab of rtv in the usual locations. I wouldn't hesitate to re-use it either. See no reason why it would not be perfectly fine to re-use it after a dis-assembly.

Also use the cometic front cover gasket.

I have used them in the past, hard composite like, can tighten bolts tight and not worry about working loose like with the crappy rubber style. no leaks but I rtv it to the pan so it can come off and be reused. After a couple heat cycles it seems to become brittle and easy to break during disassembly if glued to the block.

I like the Cometic oil pan gasket for the same reasons. Light rtv grey all around here.

But the front cover gasket looked too thin and not wide enough either. I waited for it from Summit and then used a Fel-Pro I also had in stock. My front cover water sealing surfaces are far from perfect.

I have a thick cork oil pan gasket on my RJC oil pan and it is weeping oil all over the damn place, I have oil dripping off the back and front studs and falling on the crossover creating a sweet oil burning stink at every start-up. I can see wetness around the entire gasket. ARP studs torqued to spec, not overtightened, so I am giving up on the Duttwieler gasket as it has once again been shown cork is the worst material to use for gaskets, no matter what anyone says. I am going with the Cometic brand, are you guys having success installing it dry?

I have a brand new one, unopened in the original packaging, for sale if anyone is interested. It's part number C-5700-094 for the TR 20 bolt oil pan. $18 + shipping.

I'm using the cork oil pan gasket that Jason supplies (which are made specifically for his deep oil pan). No dimples, it is extra wide and extra thick....very heavy duty....

I applied Permatex "Ultra Black" RTV to both sides of the gasket before I installed it. Have re-torqued the pan bolts several times now after a few heat / cool cycles and some short drives.

So far, it is holding up great! No leaks here.

i did that same procedure as above........worked well.

i now have one of those felpro blue rubber jobs on it that claims to be re-usable
