Typing this from another location. Computer went down and will not go back on. Was online downloading from bearshare late at night I was downloading and left on all night. Net Zero usually cuts off after about an hour. Awoke next morning and went to move mouse to wake up computer and it did nothing. Computer would not shut off from shutoff button. Had to hit surge protector to shut off. Went to turn on, it started to boot but stopped half-way through where it says "Verifiying DMI or PMI Pool Data". It got stuck there so I had to shut the same way but then it would not even go that far. It just goes on and now the light for the hardrive doesn't flicker the way it used to. Tried reinstalling windows, but didn't work. Keyboard does not light up when computer is turned on and it doesn't look like it knows the monitor is there.

Anybody have an idea because I don't?

Does it run through the cmos boot and can you get into the cmos when you boot?

It's either the <delete>, <esc>, or and F key.

"Verifiying DMI or PMI Pool Data" sounds like just after the MB boots or near the end.

Have you changed hardware lately?

Sounds like a hardware issue.

Need to know the OS before anything, but from what you have described I am going to guess it is either 95/98 or ME.

If you have a boot disk and can get to A:> try this:

Fdisk /mbr

then

sys c:

and reboot.

When the PC loads BIOS, try going into setup and disable "AUTO" detect on the HDD. Set it to something funky to see if it gives you a "Missing operating system" message. Maybe you lost the HDD and when its trying to auto-detect the HDD its hanging.

I know when I start mine with no HDD it does that. (I just went thru this recently to diagnose a no-boot problem.

O/S is Windows 98 and while trying to boot monitor says check cable signal path which is the monitors default thinking it is not attached to anything. I cannot get into setup or at least cannot see it.
