So i ordered a GM Heritage invoice for the 86 GN I just picked up and I am confused. Why do I not see any of the rearend codes on it???? No G80, G87 etc......?????? I know it has a posi rearend that is stock but not sure why the invoice doesn't show it. Any ideas????

I'm not familiar with what these GM Heritage invoices look like. Post an image of it along with a pic of your RPO label in the trunk. That'll spur discussion.

I posted the pic......no RPO label and that is why I ordered the Invoice........do you see the pic?????

I do now. Hmmmm.

Can't answer your question about the rear but at least you can document the WE2 and CF5.

Yep, that's a good thing....! The invoice was $50!!!! I had hoped it would have all info on it so i could make a reproduction RPO label.....maybe I need the build sheet option they offer??????

I'm gonna have to say, I don't think the car came with a g80. It was an option, until the gn became its own model at the very end of 87.
Id be placing a call to the dealer in Little Rock to see if they keep records that far back.
Looks like a nicely optioned car.
Can we get a pic of the astroroof? Tia

I should have the astroroof done by this weekend, hopefully. It was RTV'd shut and hadn't been opened for the last 10 years!!!!!! I have it out and I restored it. I have almost all pieces I needed, the main one was the motor. I should be able to get some pics this weekend with it installed. Still waiting on new headliner I ordered........

I would have thought that your 86 should at least show what mine does. Mine has G87 on the spid label, but NOT G80 because mine did not originally come with posi.
I later installed it.
So I can't explain why your invoice doesn't at least show G87 which nothing more than the 8.5" 3.42 rear.

I'm wondering if it's like TexasT said that because it wasn't in this car as an option it wasn't listed as an option that affected pricing????

Ya, but it should have at least shown G87. ALL turbo regals came with that axle selection.

Oh I agree with you! But rethinking what this doc is, an invoice, as opposed to the SPID label...it maybe makes sense it's not listed here because it was standard (the G87), just like power steering doesn't show as an option because it was standard. That's about the best I can come up with.....

UPDATE - I called where I got the invoice and they confirmed the std options that don't affect pricing do not show here. He said that was on their build sheet kit, which is not offered for Buick, only Cadillac. He did however agree to take my vin and send me what information was available to them for it, other than on the invoice.

I'm fairly certain the g80 posi was a hundred dollar option. The g87 8.5 10 bolt and the gu6 3.42 ratio was part of every t-type, along with the mx0 2004r, y56, fe3.

Most likely it didn't come with the G80 option. Most 86's don't. I have a 86 also it didn't come with a posi differential but it's kind of a plus in away can't beat on a non posi GN to much if you get my drift. As for the 3:42's the RPO code is GU6. The Gnttype website has a link that describes all the codes that were available for our cars.

What a cool thing, the GM Heritage Invoice. Thanks for posting that.
Yep, I searched and searched until I found them......great opportunity to further document your car if it's one like mine without the RPO label in the trunk, you know the one that's says DO NOT REMOVE!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh, it's like those mattress tags, some people just have to remove 'em ;)
