Hope none of the guys on here were killed in the gas explosion.

I'm here in CT. Located 25 miles from the plant and I heard it here. Was under the GN in the garage and heard a loud bang overhead. Thought it was my son in his room. Wife was upstairs with him and didn't hear any screaming so kept working, just heard about what happened on the radio. Came in to the office to see what was going on. Looks like some fatalities.:(

Holy Crap 25 miles:eek:

Sounds like they where purging*sp* one of the main lines :( My understanding is the plant isnt even open yet?

I live in the CT river valley on a hill just a couple miles north of the plant. I was outside playing with my 4 and 7 year old boys and the explosion absolutely rocked the area. I knew it had to be bad news and then I heard the sirens and saw the smoke not much after. My wife was out and saw emergency vehicles absolutely flying towards the area. I told her the shock wave blew our 4 year old off the playscape but all his winter gear cushioned the landing.

I didn't hear it or atleast I dont remember hearing it Peoople a few miles north of me did tho and we are about 50 miles from the plant. You would think they would have fail safes for things like this. Many dead and many unaccounted for.

prayer for those fallen

just wanted to add my sincere condolences for anyone who lost family in this tragedy. i'm sure it won't be as bad as haiti but still OSHA is going to have a field day there and if you live near one of those bet your having second thoughts of living there the rest of your life. Talk about never know what's around the corner and living life to its fullest.

5 killed 12 injured

hope that's it, could have been worse i can only imagine that shock wave. according to MSN news.

explosion

My company has about 200 total cylinders at that location. Lots of propane, acetylene, oxygen. I was there a 8 days ago. That building was huge. They also have 5 huge oil tanks as a backup to the natural gas. This could have been a lot worse.

May GOD comfort the family's for their loss, i just saw some footage of the aftermath i thought it was a minor explosion man was i wrong
