Considering donating my GNX Production items to an auto Museum

A many of you know I have acquired over the years a fairly rare collection of one of a kind items used in the production of the GNX's. I have offered to sell these items off to a caring collector, however, I'm disappointed that no one has stepped up to purchase them. Is it that no one really cares? I know if these were items used to build a special Corvette or the molds for a font end and rear wing from a hemi Superbird, there would be collectors all over them. Many of the well know vendors have faded away. Is this evidence that Buick interest is dwindling even further than many of us thought?

What is it, I'd like to know. Please share your thoughts

With that, I have begun to explore the possibility of donating these rare items to a worthy automobile museum. The list I have come up with to contact so far is

Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village

National Association of Automobile Museums

National Automotive Museum

Please provide any feedback or suggestions. I'm not totally sold on the idea yet, just exploring it right now.

Thanks

Joe

Joe, I would love to have your collection displayed in my basement, but I just don't have the funds to do so. :( I, too, wish a Buick collector would give these rare items a good home. What about Richard Clark? Someone mentioned him a while back, saying he has the knowledge as well as the money. Maybe the Petersen Museum in LA?

I think the Buick Gallery and Research Center at Sloan Museum would be the best idea. It is an entire building dedicated to Buicks and would make a nice display during the 100th Birthday Celebration for Buick this summer.

Instead of donating them, you should see if you could put them on loan to the museum. A lot of fine art museums display artwork on loan from private collectors.

I wish I thought the Petersen would be interested. I've visited there 4 or 5 times. For a guy that made his fortune on hotrod magazines Mr. Petersen doesn't seem to be real interested in American muscle. However, if you somehow found Enzo Ferrari's jockstrap or Ferdinand Porsche's medical records from his prostate exam they would probably already be clearing a corner of the museum for you.
