I finally got my 86gn running with most of the bugs worked out. Now though when you put the car in gear reverse or drive it kills the car. Its like the converter is locked. Unplugged the wire on side of trans and still same results. It actually chirps the tires. Its a 3200 lock up converter in a 200 transmission. I think it got took when i bought the used converter. Can someone give some advice on this as to whether im thinking correctly and can start looking for another converter. Also which is better lock up or non lock up

Or could it have a bad brake switch since i push the brake to put it in gear or could the sylenoid in the transmission be stuck and keeping it locked. Any suggestions

sounds like the converter is locked up. Time to call dusty and have him spec you a converter

The transmission is designed so the converter cannot lock in low gear. Agree with above...bad converter.

Is it a 200 THM or a 2004R? If it's a 200 than it might need a non-lock up converter. I did not think anyone was using those units anymore! GM had lots of trouble with those.
