Ive read on a thread that someone posted about what has been done to his car and one of the tings was he blocked off the coolant lines to the throttle body. his car is a 87 T-Type. Can that be done to our hotairs. What does that do? How do you do it? Where do you block it? Someone please educate me on this subject. I really wat to know about this procedure. Thanks in advance.

On the passenger side, there are coolant lines that run under the up-pipe and near the A/C compressor there are fittings that run to and from the throttle body. You can loop one to the other with a hose or just put caps on the fittings. Remove the hose and hard lines that run to the throttle body. The lines are there to warm the throttle body in cold weather to provide better driveability. If you disconnect the lines it is another step in reducing the amount of heat in the intake charge. Should provide a minor benefit for performance. Kenne used to sell petcocks to install in the lines so you can open them up incold weather for driveability benefits and close them off for added performance. On my car I installed a hose that loops the two fittings. HTH.

hey brian would happen to have any pics available of wat it looks like now or wat these lies look likeafter u looped them ? if so that would be appreciated highly by me and im sure alot of others that wanna do it would be very helpful thanx

Yes can please provide pics. Still trying to figure this car out. Thanks in advance.

I alway wondered what that little heating coil did. I noticed it a few years ago when I replaced all the little coolant hoses that go to it. That will be getting bypassed now since my car will never be driven in the cold weather again. Thanx for the good info.

i took alook under my up pipe and the only lines i see there r 2 that connect to my radiator are those the 2 lines ? if not do we have pictures or some kind of illustrations on this website that can point out those lines on the throttle body or anywhere i can see them i might have seen and touched them already lol i just have no clue thanx again

Sorry, but I don't have a digital camera yet but here it goes. Right behing my alternator there are two pipes that are about 3/4 in diameter that go under the turbo and get hooked up to the heater hoses. One pipe sits above the other. Comming off of these two pipes are two 3/8 or 1/2 hoses about 3 - 4 inches behind the alternator that run across the engine and connect into 1/4 pipes that then run to the throttle body. I am just going to loop the smaller pipe take off's together where they come off of the two main supply pipes.

hey thanx for all the help thanx for that pic did make things easier i wuld never found it now i know so bryan is that already looped? is that wats soppose to be done ? thanx

Mine is already looped. I was a little leary of capping the lines and having a cap pop off. It is a simple out and in. Then you can remove the hoses and hard lines that run to the throttle body.

thanx again just one last question the hard lines that u removed that r attached to the throttle body did u cap off those holes on the throttle body or just left them open like that does it matter ?

thanx guys for all the help , time ,tips, and answers u have provided for myself and others

you know, since there is no longer warm coolant going thru those lines that go up to the throttle body, i wonder if one could run a CO2 setup to freeze the throttle body and help cool down the intake charge a few degrees?
it might not add much performance since it's before the turbo, but it can't hurt, either..

I would'nt. Liquid co2 is -100 degrees I think the last thing you want to do is dump that into a 180 + degree throttle body. Also if that is a coil with fins on it inside the throttle body the humidity from the air would condense and freeze on it blocking the air flow into the engine. Then after the frost thawed out the water would get sucked inside the engine. It was a good thought.
