Evening everyone,

In trying to figure out my coolant temperature discrepancies, I went ahead and replaced the coolant temperature sensor. I am still reading between 90 and 120* before I start up the car. This is with the outside air temp at about 75*. Should I start investigating the wiring, or should I wait to get a hold of a DS or Scanmaster before I worry too much? I have been using WinADL.
Any suggestions? The car doesn't feel like it pulling any timing and I am getting very little knock. (BTW, I need to calm down the boost a bit, that should clear up the knock)..

Thanks everyone

Jason

Sounds like a guage or sender cal problem. If not, I would then go with a borrowed ECM and test again. CTS is real important for the ECM controlling all kinds of functions. Good luck

Here's a good test of the sensor itself.

With a good quality OHM METER!!!!

Take the connector off the two wire temp. sensor in the intake.

Yellow and black wires in the connector.

Attach the two OHM METER wires securely with clip leads to the sensor tabs.

Take a reading with the CAR COLD at 70 degree temps. the OHM reading should be 3400 ohms.

At 100 degrees it drops to 1800 OHMS.

At 160 degrees it should be 450 OHMS.

At 40 degrees and cold it should be 7500 OHMS.

This test should help pinpoint your problem with the sensor element if it is in fact a problem at all.
