I could smell coolent yesterday and after a WOT found coolent all over the water pump and pooled in the top side. I checked the oil no coolent, the rad is almost drained.
I DID NOTICE GASKET MATERIAL STICKING OUT OF THE WATERPUMP SEEMS IT MAY HAVE BLOWN IT!!
ANY ONE HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?

i would check around the waterpump shaft.
i beleive the only way it could have pushed the gasket is if it overheated which inturn will create very high pressure in the cooling system.

Did any coolant come out of the overflow tank?

Leak

Hi,

Yeah, I agree that you are probably looking at a bad waterpump. These usually last about 100K, then start dribbling. It's a pretty easy job. Use a good quality part; stuff from autozone doesn't cut it. Try Napa, they are better. Good luck with your trouble.

Feedback

Pump has only 1k on it, overflow is not full, It stayed 165 before this happened. I see a piece of Gasket sticking out of the top of the pump where it mates. Just picked up a pressure tester ,fluid is leaking out fast one I restarted it. Strange how this happened under WOT. By the way I lost power steering and breaking was real low on the floor. Seems to be ok now maybe fluid on the belt? Yes it was a Autozone part. I'll keep you posted, just when I'm almost done upgrading and starting to fine tune BAAAM oh well!

Update And Request On Shroud

FOUND THE WATER PUMP LOOSE DUE TO SPACERS USED ON THE FLEX FAN.
It was causing the pump to vibrate I assume.
The temp went from 205 to 175 once I added the spacers, I am looking for some type of expansion to add to the shroud to cover the fan blade. This will prevent the fan from cavatating like before. It already has a v-8 rad and shroud any feedback?
