I removed the heater box. how are you guys hooking up the yhe existing water/heater lines, are you runing it direct from the pump into the intake or are you guys plugging them, do you guys see a temp rise, I imagine you will see some.

I just plugged mine, which is the same as having the heater valve closed.

running a hose from one to the other will it make it run hotter

tom j-
are you saying if someone was to delete the box and just loop the lines from the water pump to the intake JIC then the car will run hotter?

Im just wondering because ive done this on a few cars and have not noticed a increase in temp....

or versus blocking it off just as bruce has suggested which blocks off the coolant flow from the pump to the heater box...

just wondering
thanks

if the water is running through heater core isn't that a cooling effect, such as a radiator, what i am trying to get at is the water flowing from the intake to pump or pump to intake, does it just recirculate hot water back into motor or is it from the radiator

well.

If you have a stock car with the heater box, during the summer when the heat isnt running that brass valve will be shut and not allow the circualtion of coolant to the heater core.. during the winter it will flow thru and the blower motor will draw heat off of it to make your feet nice and toasty..

Just as bruce said, blocking it off is just the same as running it in the summer, there wont be any heat dissipated because it wont flow toward the heater lines... it just gets blocked off...

If you want to bake yourself in the summer, then leave the heater setup so you can turn it on.... when im at the track, i always turn my heater on and get rid of some heat n the staging lanes...

Block it. There will be more water available for circulating through the block and radiator for cooling instead of just flowing through a hose (with no cooling).
