Last night I dropped my fuel pressure really low as an experiment...wondering if my FP gauge was bad, cause Ive always had this code 45 issue that comes up after about 500 miles. This is even with a new and functioning O2 sensor. I also moved the connector around that sits behind the ignition module...the one for the ignition module/injectors. I didnt like where it was sitting, and also straightened out some wires going into the connector that looked way too bent right before going into the connector. Anyway, I dropped the FP to 32. I started it back up and started to drive home, and when I gave it half throttle to speed up, the engine coughed and the engine light flashed. I tried again and again and again and the same thing happened. Every time I gave it alot of gas to speed up, it would just cough and die and every time the engine light would flash at the same time. I drove back to work and turned the FP back up to 45. The same thing kept happening, and it would even happen in park, if I hit the throttle to rev it up. WTF? I got no codes and all the numbers looked good. I ended up disconnecting the computer power wire, and went all around and played with all the wires going to every injector, and the wires going to that connector under the ignition module...I moved that connector back to where it was too. The connection there is solid and always was. I bent all those wires around a bit, checked everything else and fired it back up. The problem is gone. What the hell could this be? It was acting like the chip's rev limiter was kicking on, because thats exactly how it works with the extender. The rev limiter will kick in and the check engine light will flash. But this is at like 2000rpm, or really any rpm where I put it under a load. I could rev it up slowly at any rpm, but a quick load would do it. Could the quick jump of the engine be causing some wire somewhere to short? Ive looked everywhere and see nothing wrong.
Any ideas?

Kinda sounds like a MAF but being that you were moving wires elsewhere I would inspect there. Maybe a wire is broken inside the insulation around where they were bent. Good luck. james

Do you think the BLM's were "messed up" with the FP changes and got "cleared/reset" when you reset the ECM?

Sounds like the extender went into valet mode for some odd reason.

Well, now i remember when my fuel wouldnt rise with boost or anything. And when it'd hit 4k, it would chug/feel like a rev limiter. It was at 43 but because my fuel pressure wasnt rising, it would lean out. The o2's were fine, no knock, but would feel like the car was hitting rev limiter.

I set screw on my regulator higher to raise it a pound and it works fine now. Maybe you just put the fuel reg screw out too far?

Was fuel rising with boost atleast??

According to the part# for my chip, it doesnt have a valet mode..but then again, its not supposed to have MAL codes either, but does. Does valet mode limit WOT or MPH? Cause I had no MPH issues. Only WOT, or even half throttle...anything that brought on boost. The chip was given to me with the car, and it had the happy face sticker and the numbers on it. Says its calibrated for 50# injectors which I have. Hopefully the chip is legit.
Last week I changed my O2 sensor with my old denso one, and I had NO O2 activity. Weird. I threw the Bosch one back in and it was the same thing..NO O2 activity, and my BLM's pegged out at 160. I pulled over and fiddled with the O2 wire where it connects, cleared my computer, fired it back up, and my O2's were back. Both these times, what brought normal activity back, was clearing the computer. Tells me theres something going on there and its not the fiddling with bending wires and such.
I just had an idea...When my shifter cable broke a couple weeks ago, I had the center console out. The power wire for the extender is in there....if something happened to this connection, could this kind of stuff happen? Ive never had an issue with the adjustments I made to the tune, suddenly being lost or anything.
I did notice last night that my TPS voltage was at .40 instead of .42. I sat there at did full sweeps of the gas pedal while watching TPS numbers, and they were perfect. No dead spots..just a perfect voltage curve. I also noticed my AF on the scanmaster had dropped to 1...its normally at 2-3 (with the extender cutting it in half). I just thought it was strange. Erasing the computer brought it back to normal. My MAF seems fine. The only thing that has changed is that the center console came out and maybe that wire was disturbed.

Sounds like the extender went into valet mode for some odd reason.

I second that opinion. I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago, and I don't have valet on my Extender either. But all was fine until you get up to right at 0 boost and it would cut out. Unplugged the orange wire and plugged it back up and problem was solved. Did not ever find out why it did it.

BTW, he has the best chip on the market:D

I unplugged and yanked the computer out. I cleaned all the pins and sockets, and pulled the chip out..cleaned those pins and sockets....blew them out with air, as well as the inside of the computer. Even did a little scraping of the leads on the chip and ever so slightly bent them inward to maybe aid the connection. Pulled the cal pack and cleaned that up. Put it all back together and havent had an issue since. Damn car was acting haunted for a couple weeks there.
