Hello,

Grand National Owners was wondering have a 86 near me.

He said it could possibly have a crack in the exhaust manifold. The car is peppy but not as peppy as other GNs I have taken out.

Is this exhaust manifold crack a huge deal. Would it be possible to make this one pretty quick while keeping it pretty stock, possibly changing the fuel injectors, waste gate, computer chip??

would this crack be a reason it is not as peppy thanks and ALL advice would help me out greatly.

Exhaust pressure/flow is what spins the turbo... so yes, it will affect performance to some degree.

Best way to address the problem (in my opinion) is to pull both headers, inspect for cracks, weld as needed and reinstall using high temp RTV silicone between the headers and head. Gaskets will leak or blow out 99% of the time.

I've done this on several cars and never had a leak.
