crank sensor constant adjustment why?

Hey TB family, 87 t type; car runs fine then after car may sit for a while or if I drive for couple of days in a row car will start breaking up and SES light flickers with the engine break up. Get to crank sensor make sure adjustment and all blades pass thru car will be good then after a while back to breaking up, balancer bolt is tight cant see any visible cracks in balancer. Car will run excellent after crank sensor adjustment done, have any ideas? Thanks

Check the end play on the crank.

when you say check play should I grab balancer go up and down? If there is play what could that be crank bearings? bad crank?

Could be thrust bearings.

Does it still have the original or early style sensor in it? The rubber bushing on my original one loosened up and let the sensor wiggle around.

I had original one on car when I bought it, repalced sensor with new bracket from caspers still did same thing then put original sensor back and same outcome then when back to new sensor since I had it why not put newer part on

It very well could be the wiring at the connector, every time you move it setting it maybe the ground, power, or signal wire makes a better or different connection.

Worth a check with a voltmeter and the wiggle test.

Update to thread: SalvageV6 I took advice check sensor plug out didnt look good so I ordered a crank sensor plug pigtail from caspers and so far so good car is running ok and noticed that the original plug pins had a big difference in openings if pins so it is a tighter connection now with new plug so I will see. Thanks everyone for help and will reupdate if neccessary

just to chime in as salvage said with the wiring.
I had a wiring problem with the cam sensor and the wiggle test showed the problem.....new connector from caspers showed up today got her soldered in and all is well.
I'll bet your good to go.

Cool fixes...BTW, these wiring problems are know as "opens" not shorts. Not that anyone called them that.
