I'm getting crazy knock readings on my scanmaster and I want to make sure it isn't something someone else has run across before I tear into looking for it.
I can be cruising along at a nice steady speed 25-30 or 65-70 for example and the scanmaster will show knock that jumps all over from 0 to .5 to 20 to 8 to 11 to 15, just all over and the O2's are in the 700-850 range. If I push the recall button there isn't anything there and I don't hear anything knocking.
How in the workd can you get knock just cruising along at a steady 30 MPH?
I've got a Max Effort 16 pos and 55's if that helps. Right now it's all set on default settings.

Any ideas?
Thanks - Terry

When my stock timing chain was about to take a dump I could roll along at 30 mph and just barely add throttle and the caspers knock gauge would swing over into the red real easy. With the car in park and under the hood if I brought the rpm's up to abont 1500 the front cam area made a real racket because the cam was jumping back and forth with the chain popping but not yet jumping.

I see you have a roller so hopefully its something far simpler. You might try the under hood rpm test to see if you hear any new noises as that amount of knock has got to be coming from somewhere and I could just barely hear it in the car as it started to get worse but under the hood you knew something was wrong and I have very good ears for the GN's noises.

Terry,
Does your problem occur as soon as you start driving the car, or after you've been on the road for a while.

Does the car run normal otherwise?
