As we all know the value of Muscle cars from 50's, 60's and 70's are becoming quite high! Cars that you could buy back then for a few thousand dollars are now going for over $100,000! Of coarse there are those 'regular' collector cars, and MOPAR's. The Mopars seem to be in a category of their own as far as value goes.

So the question I pose is:

What car from the 80's......90's...and Current would YOU buy to put away, and bring out in 25+ years to sell? Which car is most desirable? What cars will be the 'Mopars' of the future?

Of coarse lets try to keep the answers a bit practical...no Million dollar Enzo's or Rolls Royce Phantom's!

Looking forward to hearing some answers!

Agree with above and would add:

Vipers
93 Mustang Cobra (held value really well)
94-96 Impala SS
Z06 Vette
Cadillac CTS-V (too early to really tell)
Cadillac XLR roadster

Are we talking domestics only here because this is a GM sight and I don't want to get flamed for TT Supra call

I would agree with the above, especially the Impala SS's, I think they will be like the GN's of the 90's collector wise. I would add:

Camaro SS/ Trans-am WS-6
Ford Lightning
Dodge Neon SRT-4

Any turbo Regal

Any mid-80's Hurst Olds or 442

Pontiac 2+2

87-88 Monte SS

IROC's (mainly convertibles)

TTA

Typhoon & Syclone

ZR-1

Grand Sport Vette

Dodge Shelby GLHS

M25 Mustang

Saleen

Twister II Mustang

Also, the King Cobra Mustangs from the mid '70's

The new Dodge Rumble Bee trucks

New Dodge GTX trucks in the late '60's colors:yellow, orange, green, purple

Any of the new Baldwin Motion Camaros

Any of the 69 2002 ZL-1 Camaros built my GMHHP

If I only had a ton of money and a huge, climate controlled building. With a top dollar alarm.:)

how about the aniversary trans am, like the 99 and 02 i think those could pull some good money someday

Do you mean any of the ZL1's made by GMMG? The cars that are going for $80,000+ currently? Its a bad ass car but not worth that much in my book. I would rather have a C5 ZO6 in electron blue for $30,000 or more less with just about as much power. Just my opinion though.

The 2002 CE TA will bring in some loot some day. If you could pry it out of GMMG's hands you could have the ONLY CE Formula ever built and backed by GM.

I accidently took a picture of it a couple of years ago.

Here it is, the rarest Firebird ever made, http://camaroplace.com/camaro/images/Collector Bird.jpg

EDIT: its a one off production car which is what I mean by rare. It was never sold so I cant say its the rarest Firebird ever sold, just made. Concepts are not included in my babbling. :D

What about a Gremlin GT.

Some of the last of the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG Cadillacs might fetch something. Especially the convertibles.

Prowler?

I'll have to think more about this list.

GNX....of course
ZR-1 40th Anniversary Vette
'96 Grand Sport Vette
Buick Riviera Silver Arrow (last Riv's made:( )
'93 Northstar Allante'
'02 35th Anniversary Camaro SS Convertible
Any Firebird Firehawk
'02 Collector's Edition T/A Convertible

3rd gen Trans Am GTA notchback. I dont know how many they made but for what I've seen them go for, it cant be too many.

OK, with all the f-bodies being mentioned in this thread I cant believe nobody has mentioned one of the rarest TA's. The Comp TA with so few made and the number of the car being painted on the door they are a gem already increasing in value.

I agree comp ta's, mecham ta's, firehawks (92 $$$)
older SS454 pickups and syclone/ty's
GXP grand prix's (NOT GTP)

A lot of cars listed here and I'm quite surprised at the variety.

Granted there are some fairly rare cars listed but collectability is driven ONLY by one simple concept:

SUPPLY AND DEMAND

I believe many cars listed aren't seen much anymore like a Cosworth Vega. Just because it's "Limited Production", "Limited Edition", "Collector's Edition" and the like doesn't autmotically make it COLLECTABLE.

Low Supply + Low Demand = Low Collectablity Value
Low Supply + High Demand = Extreme Collectability Value
High Supply + Low Demand = Extremely Low Collectablity Value
High Supply + High Demand = Marginal Collectability Value

I owned a TTA for two years. Quite rare but low exposure and only known to a VERY nitche marketplace. Because of the lack of exposure they're not very well know which results in a low demand. That said we see TTAs not holding value well. One can find a very nice TTA for $10k-$15k.

My $.02.

Yes, GMMG is what I meant. I wouldn't pay that much either but just think how many people said the same thing in 1969 when they saw the $7,000+ sticker of a ZL-1 sitting next to a $4,000 Corvette! I would buy them all day long at that price now.

The M25 was a 25th anniversary Mustang. From what I understand they were all white fastbacks with the Saleen wing on the rear and 5 spoke wheels with M25 or just 25 on the centercaps. Also had an emblem on the fender that was red, white and blue with a pony across the middle. I think it even had a red stripe along the bottom of the rockers.

My buddy has one of the 100 or so that they built. 20,000-ish miles. Bone Stock. Always forsale ;)

TTA...maybe someday
Spirit R/T...was the fastest 4 door for over 10 years

I've owned both :D but they probably won't make a great investment in the car hobby. But both were rare.

Comp TA...my parent's have his and her Comp TA's :) one 6spd and one auto. Don't know if they'll really be worth a lot either. Very over shadowed by LS1 powered cars.
