I'm big into car audio competition. SQ only...USACi primarily. I was debating on doing a custom dash and doors for my GN...will this kill the value? If I keep the factory pieces off the car somewhere...how about then? I don't want to hurt the value so whatever I do it will be classy. I have no plan to cut any sheetmetal on the car at all...maybe behind the door panel unless there is already a cut out for the CS door panels if I can find some.
The console will remain as is with new inlays...I'm just wanting to do some 5" mids and tweets in the dash...also a 8" sub.
If I had no intention of ever getting rid of the car...I'd be an easy answer...but you never know.

I don't think you would hurt the value of the car if you did it "classy" as you say. If you take the door panels and make them look 2005ish of the old 87 interior, you may actually have other guys interested in getting the same. Changing the side panels to vinyl or leather may be too much but a smoother look with some stiching would be nice in my opinion. Take off your originals and get some junkyard pieces to try thing s out. You can always go back then. Just my $.02.

The doors may be completely stock. The dash is the question...I'm keeping AC on the car and I would like to keep the instrument cluster which means I'd have to buy a new one....cut it and mold it to the new dash so that I could have all of my aftermarket gauges in the center top of the dash and that would leave me room for the speakers on either side of the dash along with an 8"sub in the glovebox area.
These are like plans for next year...so don't ask for pics...LOL...yet?!

Just save all the old parts and if you decide to sell the car down the road, offer it with the car. My outlook is make the car the way you like it. I hate cookie-cutter cars. :p
