When I bought my export brackets they were $11 each. Rather than pay $50, I'd bust out the hacksaw first.

There are no cut down brackets for the back, so you need to make your own there, anyway. When you are done cutting, total weight savings is around 35#'s in metal and bolts. Not too shabby. Savings over aluminum brackets is about 11#'s if you do the front and back (using cheap steel brackets and putting the AL's in the attic)

The only bad deal with this mod is a minor 5 mph accident will likely cause the bumber to buckle and take out the header panel or the tail lights in back. The effect on high speed crash safety is probably nill.

I looked on e-bay but could not find the dude with the brackets.
If anyone knows who it is shoot me a e-mail at vrice@arn.net
I my have to get out the saw!

Look at the junkyards, I find them pretty often. Found one last week for Larry33kc, less than $20. And we are not very close to Canada:D

Bumpers etc..

I am working on fabricating a second batch of all aluminum (non compressable) bumper mounting "shocks".
These pieces - 2 fronts (long ones) and 2 backs (shorties) weigh in total, about the same as a single stock piece .. mounting holes are right on, and they are strong T60 alum and tig welded .... they are not oem low speed impact absorbers so... "they are for off road use only".
Another "fat" reducer is to "Swiss cheese" the bumper backer piece .... this removes a few pounds, but leaves enough steel to give you a little front end protection even if you use a f'glass bumper skin.
