Hi All,

My buddy Newman comes down yesterday and wants to throw on a fiberglass trink lid he bought but it has to be cut to accept the lock mechanism.

Whats the best way to cut it? Little hole saw? But do you want a thinner/small blade??

I told him it was better to ask guys who have done it rather than go hacking away at it.

Whats the best thing to you to cut out everything on a fiberglass trunk lid?

Thanks in advance.

Definitely tape over the to-be-hole before cutting so you minimize splintering. That means front and back. Then gently file any finish fitting.

John,

Thanks for the tip. What kinda saw do you recommend? Little hole saw with rough or fine tooth blade??

Thanks again.

I believe that you could actually do it with a Uni-Bit, one of those little conical stepped bits, if you have one large enough. Drill your pilot hole in the exact center and slowly work your way up. If not, then a fine tooth hole saw about 1/16 smaller than the final hole if possible. I'd drill at as low a speed as possible, again to minimize goofs. Oh, and 2" masking tape is my tape of choice. :D
