Going to the track tonight, going to be racing a friends mustang, its got headers, 3 inch exhaust exiting out the sides, and 3.73 gears, thats all he'll admit to and he wouldnt show us under the hood. We've got a turbo of unknown size (some say te44, some say stage III cheetah) running 22 pounds of boost with no knock and a race 108 chip, thats about how much octane is in the tank as well. It has 50 pound injectors, 3in THDP test pipe, 3 in single shot exhaust and a spearco front mount. out back it has 3.90 gears in a locker, and 275/60 bfg radial t/a's im probably leaving something out, on our combo but thats ok, itll give you guys an idea. We'll be running at texas speedway tonight, its an 8th mile track.

Thanks for your guesses!

My guess is the 3.90 gears are killing that car even if it is only 1/8 mile racing.Throw in the factory 3.42 and youll pick up mph and et.

A new set of gears with install would only run ya about $300.Or if you wanted to get off cheap im sure Bweavy might have a stock set of gears for ya.The locker can stay if your dad can live with it on the street.

94 GT's are slowwwwww and slow with a CAPITAL S....it takes a couple of serious mods to make this a serious contender

oh yeah and like it was said previously ditch that 3.90 gear and go back to the stock 3.42's...nothing beats that stock gearing

Unless the Mustang has a 75 shot, it won't even be close.

Well, good news, we completely crushed him the first time and he didnt want to race again!
Dad ran once before he got there and didnt build any boost off the line and it went as follows
60'- 2.30
330- 5.77
MPH- 66
1/8- 8.625
MPH- 85
The run against him was like this
Jose Dad
60'- 2.21 2.175
330- 6.23 5.63
MPH- 57 66
1/8- 9.625 8.482

That was dad's best run of the night, but on the next run, he ran an 8.495 at 84 why is the mph so low? he's running bfg radial ta's and on the street chip he would run 8.7 at 89 or something like that.

Tonight was good, killed 2 5.slows and watched a lot of turbo civics run like crap!

ok, now this is bugging me, what do those times convert into for quarter mile? i think theres tons of room for improvement on launch.. and the intercooler isnt that great.. and it needs slicks, and gears as said..

85 mph is enough for 12's in the 1/4 with a good launch. An 8.5 would be a 13.4 or so.

What scan tool/knock detection were you using?

Lower mph in the 1/8 with a race chip usually means knock on the 2-3 shift. Which is usually the result of not enough octane, though it could be false knock if the motor mounts are broke, etc.

A 9.6 in the 1/4 is a 14.6-14.7 which is about right for a '94 Mustang with mods.

well, i looked at the timeslips and i was wrong, the mph is 10 more than last time... we have a knock gauge on the pillar and unfortunately no scan tool yet.. evidently we dont spend enough time on the cars anymore for my dad to justify 250 for a scanmaster.:(
