daily driver

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a daily driver

Im not looking to spend more then $3000 at most on one

I was wondering if anyone can think of something that is reliable with good mileage and maybe 4wd or awd and stick

Any of the older awd Subaru's will make a good daily driver. I used to have an old Brat that could go through anything.

If you dont NEED awd or 4wd look at on older VW, A2 (85-92) jetta/golf or maybe an A1 rabbit or Fox

They can be had CHEAP and seem to be very reliable, I have almost 200,000 on my fox, doesnt burn a drop of oil, and no sign of smoke on start up. If the old 1.8 has oil, it will just keep on running. Quite an aftermarket for the jetta/golf line as well.


For $3k you could also look for a passat syncro, pretty rare, but awd and pretty stylish to boot.

A used Honda or a Ford Tarus.

The Tarus is a very reliable and dependable car, specially for $3,000. I know it's not a stick or awd but the fwd will still get ya around in the weather.

I'm looking for something also...has anyone had any experiences with an all wheel drive Eclipse or Talon in the winter? It would be nice to have a turbo car for a daily driver and still be able to drive through the snow...I would just have to get over the whole "import" thing.
