i just purchased a direct scan from a board member here and the package was in great shape no complaints at all ( thankls again windmill )
what i did not know was that you really need an old laptop too use this dam thing, my laptop's have no 3.5 inch drive but that's ok i had a friend (crazqban ) copy from a floppy to a cd which worked great. but the data cable that goes from the data box to the laptop is a 32 pin cable
is there a cable or adopter to make it USB? and is the data cable that connects to the ECU is that the same as the cable inside most computers?

Something like this might work. I had to do something similer when converting a 25-pin serial connector to USB.

Since DS is purely a DOS program and designed to address the parallel printer port, be prepared for some serious headaches trying to get it to look at a USB port.

Running a printer through a USB port out to a parallel cable is one thing. Trying to get DS to go look at a USB port and thing it's the onboard parallel port is something entirely different.

You'd be miles (headaches) ahead just buying a cheap used WIN98SE machine that has a parallel printer port.

This is the reason I'm not even going to attempt selling my DS (upgraded to Powerlogger). Too many headaches for unsuspecting buyers trying to find laptops old enough to run it.

I bought and old IBM thinkpad cheap, I wasted my time trying to make my Vio work, I had adapters for adapters.........mess..... The only thing i dont care for on the old laptops is the mouse controls really suck! This things got a red button jammed in the center of the key pads and for the like of me its like trying to draw a circle with an etchoscetch! Jezus~!
