Dash Plate Removal?

I want to remove the lighted dash plate/bezel on my regal but I cant get the darn thing out. How do you remove this with damaging the plate or dash??

Drop the glove box door down, after pushing on that metal clip thingy on the left of the glove box (it releases the glove box door to swing down, oh, and empty it first) .....let it hang down, then you can reach up under and feel the four posts that attach to the plate.....use a deep well 1/4" drive socket (forgot which socket size) to remove the speed nuts on the four posts, then you can see the connector to disconnect the wiring to the plate.....at least, that's what I did for my brother's Regal quite a while ago......correct me if I'm correct here, fellas.

X2 think they are the "push on nuts" that's why most of these plaques have broken studs

Is there a trick to getting them off, or is it "cross your fingers" that you dont break the studs.

I checked on mine....they are hex "push on" nuts.....so I used a deep well socket to remove them.....the other push on types, yes, are a bitch to remove....have to use a small screwdriver to pry them off, or just cut them off with some wire cutters, being careful not to cut the posts they are mounted on.

Mine were (used to be) push on nuts. I took a small set of cutters and got under them and cut them off as to not damage/beeak off studs. Replaced with the hex nuts mentioned here

i always remove them with the dash out of the car.since that not the case this time i would drop the big black cover panel that prevents you looking up from underneath these are the same screws that hold the glovebox on as well 7mm get a brigh light and shine it up there and there are 4 studs with push pins that i use a small screw driver to bend up a corner or it and then i have a tiny set of wire cutters that i grab it and cut the metal push pin washer thingy. better to sacrifice the washer than break a stud. i have taken about 70 of these off cars and they are always held on the same way so far
