Dash Security Light?

The dash security light stays on all nite. Works as it should otherwise meaning that when I turn the key on it goes out & when I shut off the car it flashes till I lock the doors then stays on as it should.
Then instead of going off after a few seconds it stays on all nite?
Is there a relay/timer for it that may be bad?

You need to do tests at the controller connector with the controller disconnected.

Pin J light blue wire to ground with a SELF POWERED test lamp and BOTH DOORS CLOSED.
Test lamp should be off for this test.

Now open each door ONE AT A TIME, and read pin J with the same test lamp to ground, light should be on.

I believe the test reads pin J the light blue wire for a short to ground somehow so an ohmmeter read to ground should read an open with BOTH DOORS CLOSED, each door should cause the meter to read a ground on the light blue wire with the ohm meter.

If the tests yield the proper response it's a bad controller box.

Otherwise check the jamb switches, door lock cylinder switches, tan and light blue wiring for shorts to ground.

Or open circuits.

A factory service manual is very helpful for these tests and well worth the money.

Yeah it is buried in there, but I don't like talking about where it's located.

Hence the service manual reference.

However it does sound like a switch wire problem in the door or trunk and there's only 3 spots to check for those.

The control module is up behind the dash in the very left corner. You can see it but it is very hard to do anything with it. What a PITA!

Got the manual on CD & bet thats the problem but to get at it sounds like a challenge! IF everything works good except the light staying on I'll leave it but have a feeling its probably not arming after what I been reading? Hope it is arming & now I have a nice light to show people at nite!
