It was difficult to make the decision to yank the engine, since the current combo has performed flawlessly for years. I figured something would have broken by now, but nothing has. The new engine is on the stand and I've been itching to install it for many months now. Well, the time has come to move forward with the new combo. So, out with the old and in with the new. I just ordered the new transmission today, so it'll be a few weeks before the new combo is installed. That gives me time to clean up the firewall, order fittings/hoses etc. Enjoy the pics.

Man, that's a nice clean place to work! I like your shop since it is clean and well lit. You've even got the 220v for a nice welder. :)

Thanks! Here are a couple of chevelle pics.

New engine is ready to drop in. Now just waiting on the transmission from CK. I ordered some new wheels from Summit. They are Weld Star RT. I'll post pics when they arrive (backordered until mid-Nov).

Other guys beat me to it.... I was gonna say forget about the TR look at that Garage!!!! and the Chevelle hiding next to the TR.
I'd give anything to have that kind of room... Must be nice..

Oh and the Buick engine is nice too. ;)

Where did you buy those valve cover breathers? Will you run a hose to a catch can? I have the same valve covers. Nice looking motor!

Looks nice! Will you update us? I just got mine rebuilt. Upgrade cam, forged pistons, springs, injectors. But after start up it looked like it was "looking for idle" is what I was told. There's a clicking/knocking heard using stethoscope louder by downpipe from turbo. New headers didn't line up, stocks put back on. ANYWAY.. engine back out. So was wondering how your start up went. Thanks.

It'll be probably a month before start-up. I just ordered the tranny, so that will take a few weeks for them to build and ship.

The valve cover breathers are Moroso:

They fit perfect on these aluminum valve covers.

Now I'm starting with the fuel system. Since I only have a single Walbro 340 pump, I bought a Kenne-Bell boost-a-pump to ramp up the voltage to 17.5v under boost. It is already hot-wired with the Racetronix in-tank harness (highly recommended to any of you who still run the stock wires in the tank. My originals melted last year). I don't plan on running much more than 20 lbs of boost, so this should be sufficient.

Next are the fuel fittings. The billet rail came with a -8 AN male, which is really over-kill for my application. So I bought a -6 instead (Earl's # 985068ERL). Here it is with a -6 90 degree hose end attached (Earl's #809106ERL)

And for where the supply line comes out of the frame, I bought a fitting to adapt the -6 line to the saginaw 16mmx1.5 thread (Earl's # 9894DBJERL). Note how small the opening is on the return line!

Next for the return line. First is the line coming out of the regulator. It has Saginaw 14mmx1.5 threads so I adapted it to -6 male (Earl's # 991954ERL) then used a 90 degree hose end (Earl's #809106ERL).

The part where I am stuck is the darn return line on the frame. That line is Saginaw 10mmx1.25 with o-ring and nobody makes an adapter for that. What I might do is run my own 5/16 line next to the original line and use an tube-adapter fitting (Earl's # 165056ERL) to provide me the -6 male.

Or I could try to retain the original line, which is in excellent condition. The only thing that worries me is that my intake manifold is taller than stock, so that steel line may not reach high enough to thread into the regulator. Anybody have experience in this area?

Nice looking motor. I used an Earl's AN fitting (in blue) to attach a FP gauge to the fuel rail. Lasted about two years, then started leaking. When I tried to snug it up, it broke in half! Then I bought a black one made by Mr. Gasket. Leaked after about 2 weeks. I posted the problem on this website and Turbofabricator recommended I buy a stainless steel fitting from this website 6565-04-04 | FEMALE JIC SWIVEL x FEMALE JIC SWIVEL ADAPTOR

It has been about a month now, and no leaks. This fitting even has a little O ring in it, whereas the other cheap aluminum ones did not. Maybe the Earl's fittings are made for low pressure carb cars, I dunno.

Making progress. Got the cross-over pipe on. It really helped to bend the bolts slightly.

Stainless headers and the mini-starter are from TA Performance

Got the vacuum tree plumbed. Note the Casper's fuel injector harness. A very nice product.

New transmission is on the way. It should be here next week. My friend Ivan is helping me clean and paint the engine compartment.
